 
A number of villages
can be reached by early morning buses from the market area, although you may
have difficulty getting back. TENEJAPA , about 28km northeast of San Cristóbal
through some superb mountain scenery, is the closest easily accessible Tzeltal
village, and has a reasonably good Sunday market, and there are wonderful
hikes into the surrounding mountains. Combis leave for Tenejapa from Bermudas,
an unmarked side street running east from the market, near the corner with
Yajalon, about hourly or when full (http://www.eldemonio.org/spacer.gif). Last one back to San Cristóbal
leaves Tenejapa at 3pm. HUISTÁN , some 36km out, just off the road
to Ocosingo, is Tzotzil, and with more than the usual amount of villagers
in traditional dress.
